Senator Lindsey Tippins

Senator Lindsey Tippins was first elected to the Georgia State Senate in 2010. He represents Senate District 37, located in Northwest Cobb County.
Sen. Tippins serves as Chairman of the Senate Higher Education Committee and is a member of the Senate Appropriations, Natural Resources and the Environment, and Transportation Committees. He also serves as an ex-officio of the Senate Education and Youth and Regulated Industries and Utilities Committees.

Sen. Tippins previously served on the Cobb Board of Education for 12 years, serving as chairman for three years. He is the past president of the Georgia Utility Contractor Association and the North Georgia State Fair, having served as a long-time board member of both organizations.  Sen. Tippins is a board member of the Calvary Children’s Home, Fellowship of Christian Athletes (Atlanta Metro region), and was appointed by former Governor Perdue to serve on the Georgia Student Finance Commission. He has been a member of Midway Presbyterian Church for 60 years, and has served as a church elder for 22 years.

He has served on the board of the Cobb County Community Foundation, and is a longtime financial supporter of the Cobb Youth Museum. In 2008, he was named Cobb County Citizen of the Year.

He is the owner and founder of Tippins Contracting Company, Inc., a pipeline construction company, which has been in business since 1969.
Sen. Tippins received his Bachelor of Business Administration from Kennesaw Junior College and Georgia State University, and received his Juris Doctorate from Woodrow Wilson College of Law. He is also a graduate of McEachern High School.

Sen. Tippins has been happily married to the former Ann Scott for 51 years. They have two children, Nathan and Rebekah, and six lovely grandchildren.
